Origin story

Joshua (W.I.P.)

-From one demise, to one rebirth-

(Warning, suicide trigger ahead)
Before becoming a Nobody, Joshua was almost like the normal, young adult. Fairly outgoing, had good friends, fairly good family and working himself towards his own goals in college. He had a few artistic awards and had even a few prestigious awards presented to him for having a sense of leadership. Even through his trying times in high school and college, he worked himself in the martial arts. For several years, he forged himself to be a seasoned fighter and he definitely enjoyed practicing with weapons. Mainly, swords.

However, not everything in his life was bright. In fact, it was quite the opposite... every little good thing he had going for him, only appeared to him as a tiny ray of light in the world and life he had to grow up in. He was bullied severely as a child growing up. Both physically and emotionally. He developed depression very early on in his life before high school and he even started to cut himself occasionally before even realizing what he was actually going through mentally... but even from all that, he kept quiet... he never told his family or friends about what he was going through on the inside. What kind of pains he was going through... Darkness had already found a home in his heart. It laid dormant since he was still young.

The bullying only continued slightly in high school... until he started training in martial arts. This kept his mind focused on improving himself at the very least. Instead of being dragged down by depression. His master saw very good potential from Joshua and pushed him for the next several years to forge a skilled martial artist. On the day of his final test, Joshua had severely broken his left arm right before the test was complete... however, he pushed himself to complete his final test. He earned his black belt in his martial arts that day, even if he had to be sent to the emergency room that afternoon. His willpower was certainly showing at that time, but afterwards he was informed he would no longer be able to partake in physical training anymore from the severity of his injury.

A few years after the injury, he sought out an individual he had heard rumors of across the world, venturing far away from home. He soon found the woman known as Countess Valentine... he had only heard rumors of her prowess in sword fighting, as well as possibly having knowledge of how to continue living life while having a negative mindset. She was not too fond of his presence at first even as Joshua asked her to be a mentor. She originally said no and threatened to kill him if he didn't leave... but after noticing his strong persistence she allowed him to train under her for a short time. Teaching him about the sword she used in her time as a travelling warrior. He learned quite a bit about the whip sword and all of its initial benefits but he was not capable of controlling a weapon like she could. He would soon be put under rigorous strain and training until he initially broke from the pressure. From there, the countess disowned him, telling him that he needed to become stronger if he expected to become a true warrior. He was soon cast out from the premise, feeling an odd sense of defeat and uncertainty of his life.

From there, his world only became darker. Growing further in life, brought him more misery than he could ever have imagined. He eventually learned how dark the world around him truly was and could not fully accept the truth. This realization only pushed his depression even further than before, and triggered his darkness from within. From his broken state of mind and his emotional struggling brought him to eventually try to commit suicide where no one would find him...

In the flash of the darkest instant in his life, Joshua was gone... but his life wasn't over. He only awoke soon after, covered in particles of darkness... as if he was trying to fade away... but he couldn't fade away... no matter how long he laid on the floor for... He was eventually found by Xemnas, who oddly felt this strange circumstance to be resonating from this unknown individual. Stripped away from all light and even darkness, just a shell of his former self... but reborn again as a Nobody. Xemnas was fascinated by how he couldn't fade away... and took the broken individual back to the Organization for further study as well as a long state of recovery.

From there... his old life was over... He was now a Nobody.

Life as a Nobody

-The Will of the Forgotten-

After being brought back to the Organization, Joshua was given a new name before being placed into stasis to recover. He was now known as Joxhaus. However, even though he was reborn as a powerful Nobody, being in a broken and fading form, he would be deemed useless to the Organization... but Xemnas figured he would prove useful to their ranks if he was truly incapable of fading from existence. He entrusted Vexen and Zexion to study Joxhaus' powers, his vitals and anything else the could find out about him to see why he was incapable of disappearing. Vexen could have cared less because he was still trying to perfect his replica research, while Zexion attempted to take on the majority of this task. Joxhaus was a secret to everyone in the Organization except from Vexen, Zexion, Xemnas and his right hand man Saix.

Joxhaus remained in stasis for about 7-8 months before his body was perfectly "normal" again. As he was recovering, he did hear voices echoing through his head. Someone was trying to talk to him as he slept. He wasn't fully sure who it was though all he knew was it was a female speaking to him. Once he was fully recovered he was given a coat from Zexion to be recognized as an unofficial member of their ranks. According to his data from the past several months, he would be just as strong as any of the members in their ranks and would probably be capable of taking on missions with them soon, if Xemnas allowed for it.

But like all things, it's never that easy. Vexen and Zexion were required to give him a physical test in order to see if he was ready to be out on the field. Joxhaus seemed healthy on all fronts and even as a small side test, he managed for forge his weapon from his new-found power. A whip sword was not a weapon he was expecting though. However, its hilt reminded him of a family heirloom that he had in his first life. It was an officers sword that carried a formal rapier styled hilt; it belonged originally to his ancestors.

After all of his tests were done, he found that a lot has changed and he learned quite a bit about his new powers. He could see small glimpses of past events through touch and could even sense if someone was lying. He had many more powers hidden within him but it would only be a matter of time for him to realize them. The only thing he didn't understand was why he had two dark streaking lines down his face. Zexion informed him that they are "dark conduits". They act similar to blood vessels or veins for the body. For Joxhaus' case, it was a very rare occurrence that they would be exposed enough to be visible (Which happened during the recovery process).

When it was time for Joxhaus to be a part of the Organization, he was not given an official number. He was first given over to Saix, who had informed him of his position as second in command for the Organization. Joxhaus would be trained under Saix as his shadow until he would be ready to tackle missions on his own. Joxhaus did everything that Saix told him to do and he was rather respectful to him regardless of how Saix treated him. His militant and respectful attitude towards Saix did pay off in the long run. After about a week or so, Joxhaus was an official affiliate of the Organization.

About the Writer

Josh, 26 years old, male.

Super nice to everyone unless given a reason not to, but don't be afraid to talk to me! I'll be open to plot but give me moment to preface a few things. I'm a current college student on the track of digital storytelling. Trying to fix up my life as well as improve on creating stories and characters. So just know, I'm usually busy with life. Just be patient with me... I'd greatly appreciate it.

Character Inspirations

Weapon and fighting style:
Ivy Valentine (Soul Calibur)
Main background inspiration:
Axel (Kingdom Hearts)
Facial design:
Zatch Bell
Extra:
and a little bit of me.

Alternate Form(s):

Final Will:
What? Did you think those lines on his face were just for show? With depression and remembrance of a painful life, Joxhaus has developed a very dangerous state of mind. Which is lovingly referred to as a "Broken Incursion" or just a fancy word for a limit form. "Final will" is what allows him to withstand fatal injury, at the cost of his own physical and mental health. Specifically, he is more fragile in this form, but it does have its benefits. His attack power is boosted significantly, he gains a minor boost in speed... and his sense of morality no longer exists. All he cares about in this state of mind is survival. Expect his opponent to lose their head if they can't mark down a finishing blow. He can control some tame versions of this form... unfortunately due to the nature of this power, a more sinister presence lies in the back of Joxhaus' mind. A darker persona attempting to corrupt Joxhaus to a degree. Always approach with caution.

Shipping specifically, I need to develop a chemistry with another writer... since the last time (first time) I tried was an absolute disaster. On that same note, you must be 18+ to even go into lewd topics with me.Feel free to ask questions regarding any specific details about Joxhaus. Thanks in advance.

Organization XIII (Cont.)

VII. Saix

The Luna Divider, his superior, originally treated Joxhaus the same as everyone else. And just the same as he treated Roxas when training him as a "shadow". However, unlike Roxas, Joxhaus was a full grown adult and didn't need as much explaining to get his job done. Joxhaus was a quick learner and due to his past martial arts experience, he treated Saix, with the utmost respect, regardless of how Saix treated him. It took several months, but Joxhaus managed to get on Saix's good side. By that time, even Saix believed Joxhaus could be a "model example" of how Organization members should be... with that, he could have a bit more freedoms for himself. Joxhaus was also well aware of Saix's nature... and sensed he had important reasons behind his harsh actions and mindsets, after overhearing a few conversations between him and Axel. Joxhaus believes Saix is a prime example of "not judging a book by its cover" and still treats him with respect. (As a side note, Joxhaus did pick up some of Saix's attack patterns, especially the few times he's seen him enraged. Because of this, Joxhaus has his own version of "rage" known as the "Final Will" mode and will become more aggressive in fights.)

VIII. Axel

The Flurry of the Dancing Flames, the man, the myth, the legend himself... He wasn't quite sure what to make of Joxhaus when first taking note of his existence. They've only see each other a few times and haven't truly interacted. Axel seemed to notice his actions towards Saix and questioned if he was being a "teacher's pet" or being a little more cunning than meets the eye. He only spoke to him, once he heard that Joxhaus became listed as a "backup assassin" by Saix himself. Joxhaus himself seemed to like Axel's personality from afar, but was never really able to bring himself to speak to him. Aside from that, he knew very little about Axel.

IX. Demyx

The Melodious Nocturne had no opinions on the Will of the Forgotten... but as time went on he was a bit annoyed by the fact that he stuck close to Saix and the Organization's regulations. However, that didn't deter him from trying to pass off some of the harder work onto Joxhaus, being the lazy, passive guy that he was. Joxhaus, like everyone else, was not a fan of Demyx's laziness. At first, he almost felt bad for Demyx being scolded and punished frequently by the others... and only took on some of his work... in exchange for fair favor's in return. He eventually understood why he was treated as such and partially agreed that Demyx deserved some of the punishment he got. He even warned Demyx to be careful about his habits.

X. Luxord

The Gambler of Fate seemed to enjoy the newcomer with open arms. Almost the same as he treated Roxas in their times in Wonderland. Their interactions together were a bit awkward at first, but they were close allies soon after Luxord found the soft spot in Joxhaus' closed personality. They even played a few card games against each other, as well as against their fellow Organization members. Luxord found a formidable opponent and a good partner for euchre tournaments. Joxhaus has managed to beat him at his own games from time to time and Luxord knows that he's a lot more intelligent than he appears. The Will of the Forgotten trusts Luxord a lot more than one might expect, so they have a strong mutual respect for each other.

XI. Marluxia

The Graceful Assassin couldn't care less about another Nobody joining their ranks below him. He was fairly keen on making that known to Joxhaus as well. After a short time, he too noticed that Joxhaus was inclined on being a "teacher's pet" from Saix and had fairly high doubts in him and his ability. In due time, he eventually saw more of Joxhaus' power and potential and questioned if he was wrong to doubt him. Marluxia and Joxhaus rarely interacted (maybe once or twice) before Marluxia was shipped to Castle Oblivion. Joxhaus... for a lack of better terms, greatly disliked Marluxia, primarily due to his ever-present ego. It took no time at all for Joxhaus to sense a high amount of distrust in Marluxia. The Will of the Forgotten felt an ego like Marluxia's, needed to be knocked down a peg or two... quite literally. In the Will of the Forgotten's eyes, an ego like Marluxia's only proves his obvious arrogance; he would love nothing better than to see Marluxia's downfall... or at least a better form of change.

XII. Larxene

The Savage Nymph seemed to treat the Will of the Forgotten like everyone else in the Organization. Exceptionally harsh and degrading towards him... Zexion informed Joxhaus that she's always like that and to not take anything she says personally. With that in mind he seemed to easily brush off any insults she would sling his way... After several negative interactions, the Savage Nymph seemed to eventually open up to Joxhaus a bit more... secretly she "tolerated" him for a few undisclosed reasons. She did use him as a literal pin cushion for her anger issues... in exchange, Joxhaus wished for her to talk to him about anything. Which at first sounds like an odd request... this little "request" paid off in the form of a minor, yet odd secret friendship between the two. His "request" was actually a test of trust. Joxhaus' first impressions were negative towards Larxene... but that eventually changed after sensing that she acted the way she does for a few hidden reasons in her mind. There were secret memories latched into her mind... reasons why she's sadistic and harsh to everyone. Joxhaus gave her a chance to be... a little more normal, to be herself. Not the negative persona that she always shows... It wasn't an easy task, but it... "kind of" worked (Larxene is always going to be Larxene, let's be real here).

XIII. & XIV. Roxas and Xion

Joxhaus never fully got to interact with Roxas and Xion. Most of the time, he would be deployed on alternative missions, never being capable to talking to the two Keyblade wielders. Roxas seems to be fine with Joxhaus as he's just another member to work with, at least from the few interactions they have had. Xion on the other hand, felt a bit differently. She shared a small connection with the Will of the Forgotten. Since she's been an important asset to Vexen's research, the two have sensed each other for some time in the Organization's labs. Xion was able to sense and absorb some of Joxhaus' negative powers boiling from inside him and she did at one point, worry for his health. For Xion and Roxas' sake, Joxhaus kept his distance as to not expose them to his negative energies.
